Gentle inflation

The measurement is taken using an upper arm cuff to determine blood pressure. The process is quick and gentle, with automatic cuff inflation. This blood pressure monitor measures while inflating. This means the device quickly inflates the cuff to 20 mmHg. After this, inflation continues more slowly and very quietly until the measurement is complete. This ensures that the pressure on the arm is only as high as necessary for the measurement, making this method more comfortable for the user.

When the measurement is finished, the systolic and diastolic blood pressure, pulse, as well as time and date are shown on the large, clear display. The blood pressure reading is displayed both as numbers and with a color indicator, and a symbol will appear if an irregular heartbeat is detected. If the irregular heartbeat icon appears after the measurement, it indicates an irregular heart rhythm. Irregular heartbeat is a broad, general term for an abnormal heart rhythm and is measured based on your pulse from the cuff. If the irregular heartbeat symbol appears on the display, it means that heartbeats were detected that were either 25% faster or slower than the average heart rhythm during the measurement. This is a snapshot in time.

To save battery, the monitor turns off automatically after one minute if it has not been used. New batteries provide enough power for approximately 250 measurements. It is possible to purchase a power adapter so that batteries are not required. Buy the power adapter here.

Memory

The blood pressure monitor can store up to 120 blood pressure readings with date and time for 3 different users (40 readings per user). This allows each user to track their own measurements. When the memory is full, the oldest reading will be deleted. The memory first displays the average of the last 3 readings for that user, followed by the individual readings, starting with the most recent.

Checking for correct cuff application

The device automatically checks if the cuff is applied correctly before a measurement. It also checks that there has not been too much movement during the measurement. If the unit detects either of the above, EE will appear on the display.

Measuring blood pressure

Note: It is recommended to measure your blood pressure at least 30 minutes after eating, smoking, or consuming caffeinated beverages, as blood pressure can be affected by these factors. Blood pressure can also be influenced by physical activity, so it is a good idea to sit quietly for 5 minutes before taking the measurement.

How to position the cuff:

●
Place the cuff on the user's bare arm, with no clothing underneath. The tube should face downward and be aligned with the center of the inner elbow.
● Position the cuff 2-3 cm above the elbow, tightening it so that 1-2 fingers can fit between the cuff and the upper arm.
● Secure the cuff with the Velcro strap.

‍Before starting the measurement:

●
Sit on a chair with a backrest, keep your legs uncrossed, and place your arm on a table so the cuff is at heart level.
● Sit in a relaxed position and place the arm with the cuff on the table, palm facing up.

‍The measurement:

●
Press START/STOP to turn on the device. The monitor defaults to user 1. Press + to select user 2 or 3.
● Press START/STOP to begin the measurement. All symbols will briefly appear on the display, followed by 00, and the measurement will begin.
● Once the measurement is complete, the systolic and diastolic blood pressure and pulse will be shown on the screen. A heart symbol will appear if an irregular heartbeat is detected.

The result is displayed on the screen for 1 minute before the device turns off. The measurement is automatically saved in the memory.

Cleaning

The cuff and the device can be cleaned by wiping them with a damp cloth wrung out in mild soapy water. The cuff can be disinfected by wiping it with a cloth dampened with 75% alcohol.

Water must not be poured onto the device, and harsh cleaning agents or chemicals must not be used on the device.

The device must not be exposed to direct sunlight, high temperatures, extremely low temperatures, or stored in damp or dusty environments.

Calibration

According to the Danish Medicines Agency and the manufacturer, it is not necessary to calibrate the blood pressure monitor if it is used for home use. However, if it has been dropped or subjected to impact, this can lead to inaccurate measurements, and a calibration would be a good idea.

If you wish to have your blood pressure monitor calibrated, this can be done by us, and we can ensure that it measures correctly.
Calibration costs 250 DKK including VAT and can be purchased here.

Sources of error

If you are experiencing error messages or inaccurate readings, there may be several reasons for this:

● Has the user been active, eating/drinking, or smoking? Blood pressure can fluctuate significantly throughout the day and is affected by food, drink, smoking, and activity. It is recommended to measure your blood pressure at least 30 minutes after eating, smoking, or consuming caffeinated beverages. It is important to have sat quietly for 5 minutes before starting the measurement.

●
Is the cuff applied correctly? Not too loose, not too tight, 2-3 cm above the elbow crease.

●
Was the user sitting correctly during the measurement? Without crossed legs, relaxed on a chair with back support, arm resting on a table with the cuff at heart level.

●
Was the user sitting still during the measurement? You must not move or talk during the measurement. It is important to be as relaxed as possible.

●
Is the cuff connected correctly to the device? Check that the cuff is connected properly.

If you find that the cuff is becoming porous or the connection between the tube and the device is not airtight, this can cause error messages or inaccurate results. It is possible to purchase and replace spare parts so that you can enjoy your device for many years to come.

If your device has been dropped or subjected to impact, this can affect the measurements, and a calibration would be a good idea.
You can read more about calibration here.
